Technical

I have a very strong production and pre-press background, having worked in the print and design industry since graduating from college. My first job was as a film assembler at a full-service printer in Minneapolis; I remained in that position for several years. From there, I moved into keylining, and also did quite a bit of package-comp assemblies and mockup. I later became a print buyer, and worked in this capacity for several agencies in Minneapolis including Campbell-Mithun.

In 1992, I went freelance, working in Macintosh production. I use Quark, Photoshop and Illustrator as my primary tools. My extensive background in print production serves me well in this capacity, as I understand the process that occurs after an electronic file leaves the designer's desk. I specialize in production-intense jobs that require technical understanding many designers lack. I enjoy the organizational challenges presented by long-document work such as books and catalogs, but also work on many smaller projects as well.
